5 Reasons Why Trading Cousins Makes Perfect Sense for the Kings

3. They Get to Tank in a Great Draft

If you’ve followed the NBA this year, you’ve probably heard how strong this draft class seems to be.

Not only do the Kings get to tank with their own draft pick, they also own the Pelicans 2017 pick which should land in the late teens (assuming this Cousins trade helps propel the Pelicans to the 8th seed).

The Kings also receive the Sixers 2nd round pick (which should be around the 35th pick in the draft). Hey, it’s still an asset for the future.

At this point, anything helps and with a deep draft, maybe you can snag a gem in the 2nd round like a Draymond. Who knows.

The Kings’ biggest need is having that franchise player. The league revolves around strong point guard play, and with Darren Collison and Ty Lawson, those are not starting caliber point guards for a playoff team.

This year’s draft is loaded at PG with guys like Markelle Fultz, Lonzo Ball, Dennis Smith, etc… so why not tank now for your future PG of the next decade?
