5. Pau Gasol (20.8 PPG, 9.8 RPG in 2006/07)
The Spaniard plays basketball almost like ballet, it’s beautiful to watch. Fundamentally sound at all times and always played with major passion and a high I.Q. Internationally Pau has 3 Olympic medals (2 silver, 1 bronze) and in the NBA he is a two-time champion. Pau averaged 18 or more PPG for three different teams and in 2001/2002 was the NBA’s Rookie of the Year. Pau is also an 6x all-star, and 4x all NBA team member.
He’s helped grow the game in his country, which has led to an influx of Spanish talent in the NBA over the last decade: Marc Gasol, Jose Calderon, Ricky Rubio, Sergio Rodriguez, Rudy Fernandez just to name a few. And for those reasons, he’s more than deserving to be in the top 5 of this list.
