1. Hasheem Thabeet (#2 pick in 2009)

1thabeetThe 7 foot 3 giant from Tanzania was the 2nd pick in the 2009 NBA draft and made NBA history. Well, not that kind of history you would want to make. He became the highest drafted player to be sent to the D-League (at that point).

The 2009 draft had a lot of talent. It’s not like the Grizzlies had to settle for Thabeet, but they thought they had the second coming of Dikembe Mutombo. Unfortunately they ended up with a guy who has averaged 2.2 PPG and 2.7 RPG so far in his NBA career. Pretty awful numbers when compared to his fellow draft classmates like Steph Curry and James Harden.

Players drafted after him:

Stephen Curry, James Harden, DeMar Derozan, Tyreke Evans, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, Ty Lawson, Gerald Henderson, Darren Collison, Omri Casspi, Taj Gibson, DeMarre Carroll, Patrick Beverley, Jordan Hill, Jodie Meeks, Marcus Thornton, Chase Budinger, Danny Green and Patty Mills.

Why he is a bigger bust than Kwame Brown: Thabeet can’t stick to an NBA roster, he’s played in the d-league and was drafted over Stephen Curry and James Harden. Enough said.

So there you have it.
